About this exam
The Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) examination is conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards to fill a wide range of non-technical posts across Zonal Railways and Production Units of Indian Railways. The Graduate-level stream (CEN 06/2025) covers posts such as Station Master, Goods Train Manager, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist and Senior Time Keeper, spread across 19 Railway Recruitment Boards nationwide. Selection runs through a two-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT 1 and CBT 2), followed by a post-specific skill test or typing test where applicable (e.g. typing skill test for clerical posts, aptitude test for Station Master/Goods Train Manager), then Document Verification and Medical Examination. CBT 1 acts as a screening stage; only CBT 2 marks count toward the final merit, normalised across shifts.
