How is the annual increment calculated under the 7th CPC pay matrix?

Under FR 26 read with 7th CPC Rule 10, you receive one annual increment on 1 July each year. Rather than adding a fixed percentage to your Basic Pay, the increment moves you to the next higher cell in your current pay level within the pay matrix — which is equivalent to roughly a 3% increase, rounded to the nearest ₹100. The calculator identifies your current matrix cell and shows exactly which cell you will move to on each 1 July, along with the resulting Basic Pay.

What happens when I reach the maximum cell of my pay level?

Once you reach the last (highest) cell in your pay level, you are eligible for a stagnation increment — one additional increment every two years — until you retire or get a promotion to the next level. The estimator flags when your multi-year projection hits the maximum cell and applies the two-year stagnation rule for subsequent years automatically.

Does the increment change my HRA, and can I see a multi-year projection?

Yes on both counts. HRA is calculated as a fixed percentage of Basic Pay (27%/18%/9% for X/Y/Z city tiers), so it rises automatically each time your Basic Pay increases at increment. The calculator shows a year-by-year projection — Basic Pay, DA, HRA, and gross — across however many years you specify, letting you plan finances ahead of major expenses like home loan eligibility checks.
